Last May we offered good wishes for a happy retirement to our former Director Betsy Barnes. Our community benefited from her ten years of commitment to the Library, and we were sad to see her go. The search for a new Librarian began, and yielded quite a gem. We are very happy that she is joining our team!
This month we warmly welcome our new library director, Teresa Smedile, also known as Terri (and Mrs. S to her students). Terri comes to us with many years of experience as a school librarian. For the past 7 years, she worked for the Chichester School District as a traveling librarian to Linwood and Hilltop Elementary and the Chi Middle School. Prior to coming to Chichester, Terri was the full-time librarian at Glenolden School for 8 years. Her library career began at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic school in Swarthmore, where she served as a part-time librarian for 9 years. We are excited to have Terri as our new leader at Upper Chichester Library and look forward to new and innovative programs to come.
Some of Terri’s students have already stopped by to greet her. If you’d like to meet the new director, she works Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. One of her additions to our space is a Suggestion Box, good ideas are always invited. When you get the chance, stop by to say hello!
